376083 2005-07-31 02:07:00 the quoted post is well below Mediocrity, into the realm or worthlessness, Which is on par with the rest of her bizarre and reduntant output.

Still, if your taking time out to frown on how people spell makes the world a better place then who am I to....oh wait,Thats pathetic.Tiny tiny minds.
Just remember Met,she dosen't comment on your pink and fluffy slippers.

376084 2005-07-31 02:20:00 As long as the pink fluffy slippers divert attention away from my pink fluffy underpants Im quite happy .

You will not regret that.

Only Mrs Metla (or a VERY brave beetle) would ever be in a position to confirm or deny it as a fact. Most of us would decline the opportunity.... strenuously!

376086 2005-07-31 04:53:00 If I can be permitted to prod this post away from Metla's footwear and drawers for a moment..... An interesting lift from here. (http://www.crookedtimber.org/)

I recently traded in a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner to buy a new Prius. It’s great. My gas mileage tripled – over its 1500 miles so far, it has averaged around 50 mpg. The sight-lines take a little getting used to – or maybe it’s just the adjustment after climbing down from an SUV – but it handles well and I’ve had no problem with power. I’m very happy with it and its “super ultra low emissions.”

376087 2005-07-31 08:11:00 I'd just like to thank Joe for his explanation of diesel as a fuel and the mechanical requirements. Most interesting.

I run a Toyoto Prado 3 litre turbo diesel. Lovely vehicle, fulltime 4wd and runs like a dream. Much cheaper to run than petrol 4wds, and with suprisingly good acceleration.

376088 2005-07-31 12:14:00 Thanks for owing up as another diesel 4X4 owner Winston, now a question;

Do you feel like a housewife who just uses your dirty big diesel to run the kids to and from school?

Edit to my calculations above; Drove past a gas station today; diesel 93c petrol $1.32, so it would apear even more money in my pocket.

376090 2005-07-31 22:31:00 Expensive but not bad by world standards. About five years ago I visited Europe and in Britain filled up the rental. For the first - and only - time in my life I paid out more than NZ$100 for gas. Now putter about the SI in a 2.7 diesel. Will see me out. :cool: Scouse (83)

Aarrgh - ya got me . :help: I certainly do that .

There is no doubt that 4wd vehicles have taken the place of the Holden and Ford station wagons of the 1960s-70s . Lots of room inside, three rows of seats, plus height above other traffic . Less car sickness with children is a bonus . Kerbs and traffic islands become slightly bumpy pieces of road if one feels the need to u-turn .

Happily I live near Central Otago which has plenty of off-road tracks . Macetown, Dunstan Road, Nevis Valley, Thompsons Saddle, Snowpole Road, to name a few .

So did you buy the Prius new or secondhand, and whats the performance like? I have been looking, but a bit out of my reach at the moment
