They shouldn't be taking on new customers for a start, until they have fixed the problems. I am with xnet, and my speeds definately haven't been as good these last few months, but it isn't terrible. Perhaps it is also happening because everone is using speedtest at the same time.;) |

| 663574 | 2008-04-30 19:42:00 | im on telecom getting shocking speed to overseas, anyone else with telecom getting stuck behind? (more so then usual :P) I'm on the TC go large and the speed I get is 35-55 kB/s on rural line. Had speeds of 150kB/s before but they must put the breaks on.My monthly totals are not that high(appr.10GB) but that obviously doesn't count. We have just to few big players and to many small fish! | 663575 | 2008-05-01 00:31:00 | I'm really getting a good laugh over plans to run fibre to the home for fast Internet access:D Like that will speed up my peaktime service to the USA? I feel a Tui billboard coming on . To all fibre pushers - for most of us it ain't the national speed that is the problem . So, what is the problem, really? If it is cost, why hasn't someone come up with a plan that costs a bit more but gives more consistent service? Maybe a dollar per GB is too cheap? I'd gladly pay at least twice this for reasonable service . |

Hell, we do it at work constantly, if we get so busy we are streched the prices shoot through the roof, To make sure we don't get contracts we can't do, or if by some freakish event we do get them, we can sink some cash into resources as required. |

| 663577 | 2008-05-01 04:03:00 | So what sort of speeds are people getting with XNet when they say slow? Looking at some of the posts it seems to be about 280 kbps - is that about right or does it get even slower than that? | Saint Huck (2424) | ||
| 663578 | 2008-05-01 04:21:00 | As they reach saturation point they need to raise their prices to slow down new signups. Hell, we do it at work constantly, if we get so busy we are streched the prices shoot through the roof, To make sure we don't get contracts we can't do, or if by some freakish event we do get them, we can sink some cash into resources as required. If their customer base rises, then their prices should come down, as their admin costs per customer will come down, and they will have more buying power for their bandwidth. It would only be if their actual costs go up, should their prices also go up. It is most likely the case that they haven't purchased enough international capacity, so their are more people sharing the pipe. Therefore xnet should really be providing current customers a credit, unless they want to lose a lot of their customers. Becasue we aren't into a contract with xnet, we can easily switch to another provider. |
