376073 2005-07-29 09:34:00 My partners diesel is slow and economical. My car is gutless and reasonable. Haha

you've got it in a nutshell. thats exactly right. you have to compare slow and gutless deisel with slow and gutless petrol.

as far as glowplugs vers sparkplugs. it depends a little. glowplugs don't always last long. you might get 50,000km out of them, mayby 100,000km it depends on the vechile and quailty of the glowplug (cheap brands can fail withen 5,000km).
the exspencive sparkplugs only get touched every 100,000km's. the cheaper ones more often, however the exspenice ones actually work out cheaper in the long run.

i didn't mention labour due to every vechile being different.

376074 2005-07-29 14:52:00 rob....like most peole i think your missing a lot here. deisel serviceing costs more. most deisels require oil changes every 5000km, petrols 10000km or more. the newer direct injection deisels have a 10000km sevice interval.

I am on my second Surf, first was a 2.4L diesel. I know two people with the petrol Surf of similar year to mine. Not only do I know for a fact that the diesel is cheaper to service, but in the case of my new 3L diesel it is also faster.

376075 2005-07-29 23:11:00 i would be interested to know the prices, what was done and who did it. sorry i always take claims with a grain of salt, you can get such a huge difference in prices depending on who does it and what parts they use. eg orignal toyota are very exspencive. tweak'e (69)
376076 2005-07-29 23:38:00 We have a 3l Surf floating around somewhere, Its the only wagon in the fleet that people keep on running out of juice, They head out of town thinking half a tank is plenty and never make it.....

I was going to use it as a personal wagon untill I looked at the fuel card that goes with it, Money wasted.

Edit

Petrol wagon.

376077 2005-07-30 23:18:00 the best thing with a deisel.......the long range between refuels. no running into town every 2nd day to refuel ! tweak'e (69)
376078 2005-07-31 00:31:00 The price difference between running a diesel and petrol vehicle has certainly reduced significantly over the past couple of years, thanks to the increase in cost of diesel and road user charges. FoxyMX (5)

376080 2005-07-31 01:24:00 yeah the % of increase on diesel has been far greater than petrol. also afaik the biggest increase in RUC had been in under 3 ton vechiles, ie non-HT which really all the tradesmans useing light commericals.

btw please excuse tweak'es creative spelling :D :p

We live in a world where nobody cares.

the quoted post is well below Mediocrity, into the realm or worthlessness, Which is on par with the rest of her bizarre and reduntant output.

Still, if your taking time out to frown on how people spell makes the world a better place then who am I to....oh wait,Thats pathetic.Tiny tiny minds.
