| 376283 | 2005-08-30 09:03:00 | OK I promised to report back. So - I'm home & I have a cleared drain. As for the HOW - I went the way of least resistance finally. Did a bit more investigating & found that what I was assessing at first was a sump, not the cleaning eye. (Gotta know yer stuff here, it seems) The eye was weellll buried. Its condition showed Drano or caustic soda would've been laughed at. And getting that far showed me I didn't personally want to know any more... So the lovely feller with the bendy steel tape & metal thingies came this afternoon, did battle & was on his way to the next job in less than an hour. We don't know whether tree roots were the cause, but even if this gives me only a year or two it was worth the $50 he charged. (Now I'm wondering whether I should break a bottle of wine into the toilet bowl for its relaunch. Appease the gods..?) |
