375395 2005-07-26 06:47:00 A quick Google for:
Mac OS Spyware

Gives the following results which ive had a quick (less than 2 min) browse over the lot:
macscan.securemac.com
news.com.com
www.signonsandiego.com

Security through obscurity is not a good standing to take.

Oi!

Those links you gave talk about the possible scenarios of a MacOS spyware - but do not mention existing spyware at all. The first link is a list of MacOS spyware - and it is empty.

Malware for MacOSX is going to be very very rare - not only does MacOSX use BSD code that is audited line by line by humans (Google for Coverity's analysis of code for BSD), but the Apple folk themselves seem to have a good look over it.

375396 2005-07-26 06:47:00 Doesn't ProcessGuard stop the installation of viruses, trojans, adware, spyware etc? Would you need the other malware tools if you have ProcessGuard?
the tools are only as good as the user is in useing them. i see plenty of peole with outof date AV, trogens/virus let through the firewall and even with spyware stoppers they still LET them in.

it makes things so much easy to repair IF they have tools already there that they can run.

Yes of course . ProcessGuard itself needs to be disbled when installing new software, and I can see noobs messing this up . I can also see noobs agreeing to deliberately install malware . . .

You are stirring Chill.
You posted nothing that shows any current spyware or viruses for OS X
I object to that sort of irresponsible information.

So just because mac costs a bomb and has a "fanciful intarface!!!111" it's better than the free and well supported Linux distrobutions? Nice try.

Pray tell. How would shelling out $3000 to get a new decently specced mac be any better than spending an hour downloading Xandros OCE?

BTW. You can't exactly call foul over "irresponcible information" after saying in the Mac vs. PC thread that OSX is 100% more secure than Windows. Pot. Kettle. Black.

You can find anything for Mac:
http://www.macsecurity.org/
There's a Mac Anti-spyware program in the works too called MacScan

Im a die-hard Linux fan, but the difference is Im not as ignorant about its shortcomings. Its not perfect.

So, Ive decided to give you that 24 hours I mentioned.

Now back on track, somebody mentioned that there may be an update to Microsofts Security Center thingy in WinXP for a Spyware application also? Anybody else heard about it?
