I haven't heard back from then yet but will let you know how it goes with this. There's a lot of great reasons for going with Xnet and I'd like to be able to stick with them but they really need to sort this. Hopefully it's just a blip... |

| 663551 | 2008-04-29 00:59:00 | I get the same thing here too, with Xnet (On Youtube), sometimes that is. It stops and starts. Altho, I hardly go there, so I'm not too worried about Youtube. The slowness, may also be due to how many people are on at the same time, or its peak time. But besides that (for me anyway), its been fine. I find it is faster in the mornings, compared to the evenings. At least its a hell of a lot faster (I've only been with Xnet since Sept 07) than dialup, which I was on for about 10 years ! |

This blip looks like its be ongoing for a couple of months now, how long would you suggest I hang on before looking for alternatives? It depends entirely on how long *you* feel you can wait. Speeds are fine during the day; it's only during peak evening hours they have issues. When do you normally use the net? If I was in your situation I'd be happy to wait at least another month, based on the outstanding level of service prior to this incident. That said, it has been going on for a while now - a lot of customers are starting to get pretty annoyed, and some have left already because of it. |

Unfortunately my main need is a reasonably fast and reliable connection during those peak hours. :dogeye: Have they had to deal this type of issue in the past? Or is this one of those growing pains that companies go through? I've had a couple of replies from tech support but they just acknowledge the problem but can't give any timeframe for resolution. I've asked them to escalate and get someone to call so will see if anything positive comes out of that. I wish I'd seen the Geekzone postings before I signed up. I wouldn't have if I'd been aware of the situation. I'm not impressed that Xnet are just taking on new customers and not telling them what's going on. It can't be good for the long term future of their business. |

| 663554 | 2008-04-29 11:38:00 | I'm another hacked off customer . I have had no reply to my email to them so don't hold your breath for an answer . How many months do we wait? I am looking around but am concerned I will end up with another dud . I don't expect the top throughput in the evenings but 295kbps to LA is just a sick joke . |

And not only internationally, but also locally And I would say MOST ISP's (it wouldnt matter who you go through, or use). All of them have peak hours, and will suffer, some slowness, either in the morning, afternoon, or evening. And the only way theyre going to fix that is to use something better than copper lines Or get better servers / whatever they use, so they can deal with the amount of data / people using them |

| 663556 | 2008-04-29 12:28:00 | i agree with speedy.. im with ihug and youtube is just a killer from between 6 to 7pm and11ishpm.. outside of those times it blazes through. think it would be the same with any isp, after school, work, everyone jumps on the net for emails, downloads, streaming news etc.. i schedule all my downloads between 3am and 5am when speed is guaranteed to be the best and it usually is at that time. my usual bandwidth is around 4.5Mb/s, with youtube in the evening it feels more like dialup, i mean it is a killer.. i have to walk away otherwise ill throw the screen out the window lol the unusual thing is i can max my bandwidth from the rapidshare servers. people always say that international bandwidth will always be less than national which is logical but for some reason rapidshare regardless of what time during the day gives me close to 500 kb/s. |

Same here, I usually get 400/500k most of the time from the MS or Apple site It doesnt matter if its day, or night When I download something from them. Most of the other sites arent that fast |

Or get better servers / whatever they use, so they can deal with the amount of data / people using them Unfortunately it looks like a straight capacity issue with Xnet with international traffic . I was getting good download speeds with my previous ISP - based on file size and download times I'm guessing between 1 . 3Mbps and 2 . 7Mbps . Yes there were some downtimes but nothing like this . Now with Xnet I'm getting international speeds of 200kbps if I'm lucky during the times of the day that I need a good connection - . speedtest . net/result/265270803 . png" target="_blank">www . speedtest . net (http://www . speedtest . net) Now first thing in the morning I'm getting speeds of 2 . 7Mbps which while not great is plenty ok for me . It isn't the copper at all . If you check out the Geekzone thread posted above by Stu you'll see that this has been happening for a while . All I want is to get the service that I ordered . I'm not after something for nothing, I'm not expecting blinding speeds, just a good, honest service . I really don't want to go back to my previous ISP but if this doesn't improve soon I may have little choice . |
