Here's the poop right from the Register's mouth about the "New FireFox (www.theregister.co.uk) ", or update or change or whatever. |

Not bothered how long it takes. The 1.0.x version is good enough for me. |

I hope 1.5 fixes the broken image rendering (large images - mainly gifs, and especially animated gifs) slowing the browser to a crawl and causing 99% CPU usage. It'd be nice if PDF's didn't crash it, too. |

Ummm yeah large images and PDFs don't crash it. (At least it dosen't bring 1.1 down) |

Large images (above 1024x768) don't crash it, they slow it down, in my experience. Animated gifs cause me a lot of CPU usage. When I try to navigate away from a PDF, I get a crash. This is a known bug. I'm still on 1.0 though, might be fixed in 1.0.6 or whatever, but I doubt it. |

FF 1.0.6 here and no PDF crashes either. The .gif thing hasn't been a problem, but I just started using them in FF a while ago..with 1g of RAM, I don't get any degradation in speed that I can tell..but I do see over 60% CPU running with them up...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
The things I want from FF are settable font defaults and colors and size too. It's a pain to have to call them outta the list every time I want to use them.... |
