| 664329 | 2008-04-30 08:52:00 | Hi I was wondering if someone can explain in lay man's language what Blue Tooth is. I have a laptop and would like to be able to pick up hot spots and was wondering what equipment I would need. As you will guess I am a "newby" to this side of technology. Many thanks Cariad |

| 664330 | 2008-04-30 09:49:00 | Welcome to PressF1 :) Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs). Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, personal computers, printers, GPS receivers, digital cameras, and video game consoles over a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency. What you need depends on what equipment you have and what you want to do with it. Post more info and we'll help you have. |

A wee bit more info on your laptop model and OS and we can be a lot more helpful. Just a quick analogy off the top of my head - a toothpick (Bluetooth) is OK for eating finger food, but a knife and fork (Wi-Fi) is better for a steak meal. Eugh, stupid analogy. |
