378132 2005-08-04 03:51:00 If you want to run MS's Vista OS, you'll need a new monitor. That's for no reason other than DRM (digital rights management).

Any body else aware of any other hardware requirments, apart from the usual RAM and graphics upgrades?

378133 2005-08-04 03:59:00 Did you read the thread on HD monitors and TV's from a couple weeks back,we went over a fair bit of it.

The new screens are only required for viewing HD media........Which (imo) will not be available in NZ untill HD TV's are common place (they are currently available for a price) and this wont happen untill we have a HD broadcast, which I cant see happening anytime in the next decade....

378137 2005-08-04 05:25:00 well I would have to think what ever is high end now would be your entry point for VISTA, as far as hardware is concerned plod (107)
378138 2005-08-04 06:07:00 We need a new monitor?????

Why on earth? whats the matter with 800 X 600 17inch cathode monitors?

378139 2005-08-04 06:47:00 Actually, on second thoughts Met's, I want HD-DVD now and digital TV too along with a 50MB/s intrawaweb [sic] connection. It's just not bdy good enough

Presscott, heres a link (www.smh.com.au)

On third thought, if all the overseas content, HD-DVD and possibly Blue Ray are going that way, what the heck sort of choice are we going to have? Can you bet that the content providers will be lapping the technology up?

Should I find that other thread?

It's not a matter of wanting it, you will need to have, MS will start phasing out support for XP, I don't how long that will take, but at a guess it will be sooner then the 98-xp transition phase out...
