Alas, IE7 will not comply with web standards as set by the Acid test, such as CSS2. CSS2! - other browsers are onto CSS3 already! Various duff excuses abound. And so Thurrot himself has asked users to boycott IE7, describing it as a cancer on the web.

And did you hear that Opera is now stopping identifying itself as IE by default? Should be interesting to find out the next browser user numbers.

377678 2005-08-03 03:18:00 Well IE 7 is only bringing in what other browsers have already.

ie: Tabbed browsing, rss feeds, phishing.

So, I see no point in getting IE 7 when its out of beta.

It'll most probably be as bloated, as it is now.

And yup, Opera 8.1 preview 2 is out now, which is identified as Opera, by default.

377679 2005-08-03 05:59:00 Opera 8.10 is identified as Opera by default, although you can change it to be identified as Mozilla5.0 or IE 6.0 if you wish. Why one would wish to, beats me.
I've been running IE 7 beta for a couple of weeks and it seems to run ok, but I think I'll be sticking to Opera.

Because some web sites don't work correctly unless Opera says it's IE6 or the like.

Example below.

377684 2005-08-04 02:03:00 Yeah . This site only seems to be an issue on Opera. I have no doubts that it was designed for IE.. I pointed this out to them about a year ago. They basically said "tuff" paulw (1826)
