It's B..... difficult to get any one to believe you and you need a few / many years under your belt to build up enough courage to actually risk being called a liar on top of the nightmare causing assaults.

I believe it was a Jury of 12 who put Arthur Alan Thomas away.
And a jury of 12 wrongfully sent 3 teenage girls to prison in 2000.

There are other cases (possibly Peter Ellis?) .. you get the drift.

Then we have the Rickards and associates case, even although they have been found not guilty, there is still a smear campaign against them. Maybe the 12 got it wrong again

The 12 are human, humans are susceptible to error.

Time doesn't heal these sorts of wounds and I don't care if it 50 or 60 years later, these sorts of buggers should still be pursued and dealt with! 		andrew93 (249)
378629 2006-04-05 12:00:00 I never said whether I thought the men were guilty of rape or not. I just believe that it was too long ago for her to suddenly complain about the rape.

You may note that Mt Maunganui is not all that far from Rotorua as well.
Mind you the only excersise I get these days is jumping to conclusions and some golf.

The Jury in a case get to hear all the evidence they are allowed to. Some evidence may be suppressed for good reason. Also some evidence will in fact not be brought out in Court by the prosecution due to the fact it may be in the Defendants favour. As a witness in Court you swear to "Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

Now in my opinion you will not get to utter the WHOLE truth as a witness. Unless the prosecution and/or defense ask questions which elicit the whole truth which would rarely or never happen.

Consider two questions both of which could be answered by yes/no like either but not both. This by asking two questions from the same witness over the same events. Witness could also say "I have no recollection of doing so but I may have.

First question:-
Did you go to the toilet yesterday? Answer No.

Second question:- Did you releive your bladder yesterday? Answer Yes.

Reason for discrepancy is that the person may have had no access to a toilet at the time needed and He or She went behind a shrub or wherever.

Recollection of events do fade over time and I must admit that I have no idea if I voided my bowels on the 1st March 2006. I probably did at some point in the day but I have no idea when or where. It may have been in the morning before I went off to work or it may not.

My main point though is if I had raped someone during the day or been raped then that day would stick out in my mind.

Ever heard about Nazi war crims hunted down for good reason? Some people want Justice and some people have to wait quite a while for it. Some people never get it.

What you get in a Court is the Letter of the Law rather than the Spirit of the Law. 		Sweep (90)

You are asking male youngsters which definitely counts me out.
I have been aware that some females have made false rape cases against males. I am also aware that it is usually the male that rapes the female.

To answer your question I would have hoped the woman or girl could have gone to her parents first followed by a teacher followed by church, guides and anyway someone trustworthy. I guess I would look to Uncles and Aunts as well. Unless of course it is one of them doing it. :-(

I am not saying they are guilty.

A miscarriage of JUSTICE is just that. It will be a point of LAW.

To me most people get the LAW which entirely different to JUSTICE.

Possibly you get the distinction.

Hopefully our politicians will actually be awake when they enact the next set of LAWS and then leave a Court and Lawyers to interpret and the Police to enforce. 		Sweep (90)
