377555 2005-08-02 09:30:00 And I think you're being a bit generous to Billy Connelly there, Misty.

Well if you go to the movies and are never disappointed in a star then that is a really good measure.

Have seen Michelle Pfieffer in heaps of movies and always she is great (have never recovered from the "Fabulous Baker Boys").

Sean Connery did disappoint in one movie out of the 77 in his career.

Billy Conolly excellent in "Mrs Brown" and great fun in "The Man Who Sued God", to mention only two of the three films I have seen him in !

377557 2005-08-02 11:00:00 I trust you aren't referring to the Connolly who encouraged the Iraqi captors 'to get on with it' (news.bbc.co.uk) with their hostage Kenneth Bigley? How does one explain such a sick 'joke' to Kenneth's family? Let's not give that prat any more publicity....

Real actors / actresses : can't forget Kevin Spacey & Edward Norton.

Just my opinion

Yes, much more humane to make people fret for a day or two knowing thier head and body are about to be seperated? I don't think so. "the Connolly" simply made a humane request having casually looked the issue square in the eye and faced it. The best comedy is truth the audiance hasn't (yet) faced. At this Billy is a master.

Political incorrectness is often a sign of independant thought.

If i was held captive by some nutter who was going to take me down, rather than fret about it, i'd rather that they "got on with it" too. Sure, this to is just my opinion. I fully realise some people would value quantity of life over quality, and therefore want to see people suffer for an extra day.

Lets not condemn people because thier opinions do not match ours.

377560 2005-08-02 12:55:00 Oh come on

greatest actors

Steven Seagal (Oscar for looking permanantly constipated no matter if hes bonking or kicking ass)

Jon Claude van Damme (Must be brilliant, cause nobody could be that bad naturally)

Paris Hilton (Plays an airheaded, moron to perfection)

Winston Peters (Does a brilliant impression of Muldoons bastard child with Eva Braun)

Paul Holmes (Oscar for smary belligerent overpaid dwarf)

George Bush (To be apparently so stupid, yet in charge of a nuclear arsenal, he has to be a brilliant actor)

Any Female Co-star of Bruce Willis (Having to act sexually attracted to someone who ends ever movie covered in mud and blood looking like hes been Mike tysons Missus, must take some skill )
Morgenmuffel (187)

William Shatner
Will Smith

That was an awesome performance by Billy Connolly. Seen it a few times and will probably watch it a few more. Although, missus says Judie Dench was superior, and is one of the all time greats.

Connolly is for sure one of this world's "real" actors... because he even acts his real life.

Ken Bigley survived. That makes Connolly even more of a prat given the Iraqi captors didn't follow his advice after 'casually looking the issue square in the eye and facing it'. If it was a 'humane request' why was it made on stage with a microphone in his hand?

It was awesome - however apart from that I have to say I was a bit tongue in cheek about Billy being one of the seven top stars. Mrs Misty agrees re Judie Dench.

On a more serious note I think one of the seven would need to be Dustin Hoffman. Geena Davis, a personal favourite, is also very good and consistent though whether in the top seven ??

Have got to say that although I have seen many films that I thought were great - there are so many that I struggle to remember them all. Stage plays and other stage performaces tend to stand out in my memory more !
-- Buddy; Les Miserables; Brides of Lenane; King Lear (with Ian Mune ); Mamma Mia; The End of the Golden Weather; All Arthur Millar's plays; The God Boy
