It may work, and it is probably the only viable option left to you. Another alternative would be to pass the wire through the wall to the none-foil insulated part of the house and pin it up the wall, assuming that good reception is right on the other side of your wall. On your side bring enough surplus through to loop around the phone. Trial and error beats 'no trial and failure' every time. At least you will know you had a go.
