2008-04-30 09:23:00 | similar specs, similar price. Any good (ie: not "I hate Dell") reason to choose one over the other? | wotz (335) | |
2008-04-30 09:27:00 | I'd get the dell with a 3 year warranty. Don't spend that much on a notebook without getting a decent warranty. | wratterus (105) | |
2008-04-30 09:36:00 | I've a 1530 - very happy with it. Possibly depends what you want to do with it. | mattv (11815) | |
2008-04-30 09:51:00 | Hey Matt - I've read a review that mentioned a noisy slot load cd/dvd drive, noisy hdd and a bit warm underneath. How is yours? | wotz (335) | |
2008-04-30 10:24:00 | Hey Matt - I've read a review that mentioned a noisy slot load cd/dvd drive, noisy hdd and a bit warm underneath. How is yours? Both drives do make a bit of noise when working hard but I wouldn't consider it excessive or overly intrusive. The slot loading itself is a bit noisy yes but how often do you do that? It's pretty quiet for normal use. It does get fairly hot (but not really uncomfortable) when using on your lap. I got the 9 cell battery which lifts the main base up off a desktop which is probably good for cooling. It does make it not quite so comfortable on you knee tho so I guess it may depend how/where you plan to use it the most. Having said that it is the first laptop I have owned so I don't really have that much to compare it to.
