664203 2008-04-30 03:04:00 To be quite frank, IE worked more reliably for me, and right now I have to keep going back to it for sites that FF occasionally won't open, really unusual sites like Google! It won't close some sites either, it keeps coming up with blank windows, and it is generally behaving badly.

I may not be up to speed with all the tricks of the trade, but even if I close tabs before exiting, it often comes back up next time with the same damned pages. It holds PDF files open but hides them somewhere obscure then pops up warning notices that I'll lose it if I exit, so I do and it brings the same blasted PDF up again when it opens and I end up on the $#%& merry-go-round yet again.

As for bookmarks, sometimes I get my full (extensive) menu, and other times I get a short version and have to go to IE to get what I want.

Familiarity is always helpful, but I've had many more frustrations in a day with FF that I would have in a year of IE.

Let the fox fur fly................

Cheers

664204 2008-04-30 03:07:00 OK.

Time to uninstall it, and delete all the Mozilla app data and local settings folders, then reinstall.

Need help with that?

664205 2008-04-30 03:16:00 Can't say I have struck these problems with FF, IE7 is not bad so its your preference. Battleneter2 (9361)

You are kidding aren't you? This is THE lauded FF Browser that has already upgraded itself once since installation. Pardon my cynicism, but I've run IE6.02 for many years and never once had to think about my browser, it just worked, and now I have to uninstall and reinstall Firefox after just one day?

Post the help please, I may need it, but methinks I'll consider upgrading to Opera or IE7 if I don't get this right PDQ.

Cheers

664208 2008-04-30 03:58:00 Something has got a bit stuffed up with it for some reason. :o Maybe try Opera, thats good ;)

Back up any bookmarks you need.

Uninstall all entries relating to Firefox in add/remove programs.

Go to C:\Program Files and delete the Mozilla Firefox folder.

Make sure viewing of hidden files and folders is enabled.

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
7. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
8. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Then delete C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\ApplicationData\Mozilla

and delete C:\Documents and Settings\affcom\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla

Restart the PC and reinstall (www.mozilla.com) Firefox.

IE can get stuffed up too.

I don't have any issues with Firefox at all.

664211 2008-04-30 05:25:00 IE7 is only available for Win XP or Vista

What you need to do is upgrade your OS as you will continue strike more of these sort of problems if you don't update as your choice is limited and you will be unable to install the browsers and other programs of your choice.

It is not a good idea to get too far behind with versions of OS and programs even though they might be on the surface working fine for you, as soon or later you will run into the type of frustrations you have been having.

None of us have stocks in Mozilla, nobody does. Nobody's saying you have to do anything. If IE6 works for you then what difference does that make for us?

Personally I hate IE6, and IE7 is tolerable at best. I like Opera, and as second, FF. I've never heard of anyone else having this problem, most likely it's your comp with the issue, not FF.
