663887 2008-04-29 06:40:00 and how does it compare with Virtual PC? Want to try running Ubuntu on my XP Pro but it throws a wobbly on Virtual XP which is on Virtual PC. Virtual Box is meant to run Linux on Windows.Just wondered if someone here had tried it. Neil McC (178)
663888 2008-04-29 06:44:00 Yes. Virtualbox doesn't like Vista, and is VERY crashy.

I've run Linux on Windows usinv Virtual PC 2007, and it's been fine. Setting up Ubuntu requires a bit of tinkering, as the default graphics settings wrecks havoc.

663889 2008-04-29 09:47:00 I'm running VirtualBox on PCLinuxOS with Ubuntu installed - goes fine except the install of Ubuntu was a bit slow. johnd (85)
663890 2008-04-29 09:52:00 You could probably try VMware or Parallels and see how they go. I think they do demo versions. vitalstatistix (9182)

663893 2008-04-29 11:31:00 Thanks somebody.
Just had another at installing Ubuntu 8.04 into VPC and it keeps coming up with "An unrecoverable processor error has been encountered. The virtual machine will now reset".
And trying just to check the cd etc does the same. I actually have the iso on hd. And have checked that the hash is correct.
Think it would go better in VMWare?

What happens if you run it in "Seamless" mode? I found it to be very unstable when I did that, running XP on top of Vista Ultimate.
