664623 2008-05-01 07:51:00 I have a standard speaker system connected to my onboard audio out (1/8" jack) and have just bought a USB mic/phones headset.
Currently when I plug in the USB headset it overrides the speakers and sound comes through them, but when I want to listen through speakers again Im lost as how to point the sound back to the 1/8" output.
Any suggestions/ideas?

664624 2008-05-01 08:01:00 Go to control panel / sounds/ audio tab.

Its probably changed the default device to this

Does windows install any sound/audio drivers for it?

If youre using Windows?

664625 2008-05-01 08:12:00 Running XP. It has changed the default device to the headset(logitech USB headset), however changing the default back (to Realtek HD Audio output) and applying doesnt make a difference. sound still defaults to headset. Currently have to restart computer to get audio back out through speakers. rapscallion (13686)
664626 2008-05-01 08:21:00 Dont think you can do anything about it, since it'll keep changing it to the default device, if you keep using it.

Its either one or the other, unless a program came with them. So, you can disable it

You may be able to turn it down/off, under under volume control, and tick the sound for the speakers?

664628 2008-05-01 10:47:00 I have used a program called QuickSoundSwitch (downloadable here (http://www.quicksoundswitch.toflo.de/)) that can dynamically switch between your installed audio devices from the tray. Might be worth a try.

However, some of the more audio-aware programs (Skype, WMP as examples) can be set to use a particular device by default.
