664472 2008-04-30 22:47:00 I had a CPU, DVD writer and stick of RAM couriered to me by a retailer by Post Haste.

The package was signature required. I live in a 7 story apartment building with 70+ units. My package was 'delivered' at 7:30am, signed for by 'R T' (no idea who that is) and left here: i31.tinypic.com (picture by Post Haste).

WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE IT THERE?! (on top of the mailboxes for the whole building)

So, I go down at 9am to get it (when I checked the tracking site), and someone has stolen it.

Fantastic way to start the day.

664473 2008-04-30 23:04:00 I assume you've made a claim with Post Haste regarding this issue? somebody (208)
664474 2008-04-30 23:07:00 I ran a courier support desk for a while, a couple of questions come up here.

1 - R T - sounds like the courier, can you get a copy of the sig?

2 - If the courier signed above, does he have permission to leave (this is in writing if they cannot produce it the liability is theres)

3 - Is the building locked, could the courier get to your door? (not their fault if they can't but a card to call should have been left advising you of the depot you could collect it from)

Its up to the courier to get a correct and AUTHORIZED signature. The only way this could be correct is if R.T is the building supervisor and they could not get to your door, If they cannot tell you who R.T is and you do not know then thats not a correct sig.
Call their claims dept.

664475 2008-04-30 23:07:00 Police, landlord, post haste and the sender.

No idea who's "court the ball is in" so to speak, but I'll definitely be following this up.

664476 2008-04-30 23:09:00 The "ball" is with the courier.

Sender sent it fine not his problem

Yes, it's on the tracking page.

At no time did I say anything of the sort.

A keycode is needed to get to the mailboxes where it was left. So the courier had that at the very least. Once you are through the front door, you have access via the lift to the front door of any apartment. I had a non-signature required package delivered today too, they just left it leaning against my front door. Not ideal, but certainly a lot better.

RT is not the building manager, I've spoken to him. He'll come by later today and take a look at the security footage which "might" show the mailboxes. As posted above, sender, courier and police have also been notified.

664478 2008-04-30 23:47:00 You don't need to supply permission, the building owner or his agent can do that.

Courier had relevant access and was too lazy to go to the right place
his problem, make a claim with the courier.

Let the couriers follow up with the police if they want too, not your problem

664479 2008-04-30 23:57:00 Seen Couriers do this sort of thing before.

I "believe" the retailer has to make the claim and supply you new parts. The ticket is there's.

664480 2008-05-01 00:17:00 Hes right, some companies insist the sender make the claim DeSade (984)
664481 2008-05-01 00:20:00 Loosing stuff is not unique to Poste Haste it happens to all courier companies from time to time. Bantu (52)
