Nigel, A brief chemistry lesson!!

silicon is an element commonly available in oxide forms in silica sand for example.

silicones on the other hand are a range of inorganic polmers used in a variety of applications such as sealants, adhesives, stuffing bras etc etc.

Just thought you'd like to know!!

Bonzo, a brief chemistry lesson!!

Silicon is an element commonly available in oxide forms in silica sand for example . Used extensively in semiconductors such as computer chips etc . Wacko's new boy/girl friend would be filled with the stuff, especially in the brain area .

Just thought you'd like to know!!

Silicones contain silicon so the initial statement is strictly correct .

True, by the same token I'd look a bit silly if I went to Mitre 10 and asked for carbon rod when I really wanted polythene rod just because pe is a carbon based polymer.
