| 379879 | 2005-08-10 00:16:00 | Any suggestions? I'm inclined to buy the Panasonic NV-VP33 for $300 but maybe a Sony at $50-100 is better? This is an interim step until hard-drive recorders settle down in price and technology. Besides we have piles of VHS tapes still being used. | Winston001 (3612) | ||
| 379880 | 2005-08-10 00:54:00 | Hey W001, is this just for playing or recording.....? I would like to get a recorder / play machine that takes both VHS / DVD but that means dollars i dont have..... There is heaps out there and even some of the supermarkets sell them, i see woolworths and countdown selling lcd 20inch tv's now...lol and they had dvd players a while back. anyway is this from a reputible shop or the red barn? :D beetle |

| 379881 | 2005-08-10 01:39:00 | The Panasonic is at 100% Electric as well as Smiths City in Invercargill. Would be nice to record on a hard drive and DVD as well, but I've got a DVD player (my wife won it  ). The Sony VCR has done well for nearly 10 years and we have heaps of tapes to play. Children are currently enjoying Dads Army which came from their late grandfather. So I'm prepared to wait for hard-drive recorders to get cheaper and better before buying. But in the meantime we need a new VCR and a combination with DVD seems sensible. |

How about having a go at putting tapes on to DVD,a good recorder is only about $150,for the computer I mean. |

You can buy as good VCR for about $200 and as it will be redundat in the not to distant future why bother getting a combo . I should mention Beet,I am never wrong in these matters . ;) |

| 379885 | 2005-08-10 03:17:00 | Redundant for whom? I will need a VCR for a few years yet due to the amount of childrens videos i have in my possesion and there is no other method for my children to watch them but by a video player . . . . . . so logical for me to have the old and the new technology together . . . . . . . as we have only a few DVD's at this stage, So logical is fine but you need to first define what the logic needs to be based on do you not? W001 said, to play videos for his family, and the future is DVD so why buy two toys when one does the same job??? As yes eventually videos will be pase' but not just yet . DVD's are the future . :illogical beetle |
