380029 2005-08-10 08:16:00 Jen, go easy on the hormone therapy, you'll be wanting a shed with a bench and vice next ;) Besides, I'm sure you make some of these other blokes feel totally inadequate already :rolleyes:Phooey :p

I don't mind getting my hands dirty and giving things a go. Don't ask why I needed a two-tonne hydraulic jack recently for a job around the house ...

... actually a 3-tonne jack would of been better, it was leaking a wee bit at the end

Oh no! too late, you've overdosed :p

BTW, why a 2 tonne jack when a 5 tonne will do the job.

380031 2005-08-10 08:25:00 You guys are really upsetting me with this thread.
But it's not your fault...

I bought Mr Laura a Black & Decker cordless drill a couple of birthdays ago - after lots of hints.

("Yes, I know I've got a powerful drill, but it's old & it's not cordless & you should see what xxx down the road can do with his handy one..." etc)

And then the battery got mislaid. And now the drill sits useless in a shed.
Like Jen, I quite fancied drilling some holes, but I gather a new battery costs nearly the price of a new drill?
So waaaaaahh!

But you are right, a 5-tonne would be better! Pity I didn't know anyone with one that I could borrow. Hmm ... although the 5-tonner might of escalated the possible damage risk a tad exponentially.

I think having an electric drill is like having a new pair of secateurs, you wander around looking to see where else you can use it.

I take it that question mark is rhetorical Jen.

Anyway, I can see a way through this little bit of confusion we appear to be experiencing, you want to swap medication with me Jen :D

380038 2005-08-10 22:10:00 Steady on chaps - drills and sheds aren't for that sort of stuff

What you needed Jen was a high-lift jack . Much more useful than an hydraulic jack . . enjoythedrive . com/content/?id=9685" target="_blank">www . enjoythedrive . com

These wonderful tools can be used as a winch or a clamp/vice and you can lift stuff too . I recently used mine to push part of a brick wall back into place . My dear old mum tried to demolish her garage while backing the car out . :help:
