There you go vts/wmg - for a change a Windows user has said that a piece of mac software is crap. Instead of you always bollocking Windows programs. It seems to me that if "you" don't own a program/OS/piece of hardware you think it is crap.

PS One of our local computer salesman, (who uses a mac) said that imovie 06 was OK but o8 version was pretty cut back in some of it's functions.

There were and have been a lot of comments from iMovie users who moved to iMovie08 and didn't like that some of the functionality was "removed" which is why I have stayed with iMovie06 which I am perfectly happy with for what I do. iMovie08 is designed to be more simplified than what iMovie06 is/was which means that some users would need to move up to FC Express in order to "move on". A bit of pain for a lot more gain.

However as I am not trying to get in to a "scrap in the kindergarten sand pit" as it were - I have offered a number of suitably priced video editing Windows alternatives to answer the original posters question. :)

Fine by me. Just stop throwing sand in other peoples eyes. You tend to bring aggro into threads and take away the theme of the thread.

I suggest you go on to some mac forum if you want to bash Windows. I take this as being a computer forum, not specifically Windows or mac.

I wasn't "bashing" Windows, I was pointing out the valid short comings Movie Maker and I gave about 5 good or very good PC software editing alternatives for that I would consider to be much better than Windows Movie Maker.

665149 2008-05-05 01:34:00 Getting back on topic...

The discs produced by your recorder are likely in DVD VR format rather than DVD Video. VR (Video Recording) format allows you to edit the video directly from the DVD without needing to transfer it to the hard drive, and you can "update" the parts of the video that have changed without needing to re-record the entire disc.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with actually *doing* this, but I know that it's possible.
