664714 2008-05-02 03:10:00 Just download it and run it.

It'll make a copy of the original tcpip.sys file and change the 1/2 open ports on the new file. Just dont get too carried away with how many you change it to.

I've just changed mine to 300.

I downloaded it, went to the file area where it is and my AVG went nuts over it.

It says it's got HackTool.AB in it and that it is very harmful.

What gives?

Its not as it said on the site somewhere.

If it had something like Hacktool in it, do you think I would use it?

664716 2008-05-02 03:17:00 I haven't changed any settings on it during the install of the patch. So I'm guessing default of 50 is still there. jabbapam (10283)
664717 2008-05-02 03:20:00 No the default if u didnt change anything is 10.

It doesnt install anything, you have to change the number and reboot for it to work.

664720 2008-05-02 03:35:00 Follow what it says in the window, when you run it.

Press C to change the amount, type in the amount, then it'll tell you to select cancel when the file protection window appears.. you'll see it count down, and then it'll tell you to reboot

664721 2008-05-02 04:01:00 I installed comodo BOclean then changed it to 300. It might be my imagination but web pages seem to open up quicker now. However no real change in my torrent downloads, I'm wondering if I should try another torrent program, any suggestions.
Current program is utorrent.

664722 2008-05-02 04:05:00 It depends on how many programs are installed, and how many need / use ports.

The more you've got, obviously the faster the ports will be used up.

664723 2008-05-02 05:16:00 I installed it and got an increase of download speeds,
I changed it from the default of 10 to 50.
The download speed increase was in the hundreds of kbps.
Was normally about 1500kbps down now around 2000kbps(tested on speedtest.net) ...might just be the time of day:rolleyes:
