379769 2005-08-11 11:28:00 Hehe, of course you don't buy it with Vodafone! Buy a 3G phone from tradme! Brand new from $400........

Haha, there might be a market yet, maybe I should go to Hong Kong to source second handed 3G phones, bring them here, sell them at $200.... And advertise them as "free call your mates on 3G video call for these months!"... I see a market...

$2/min is a good price... Cause that's international! And $0.49/min for video calls, heck, that must be the cheapest in the world... (Oh, I must note here I have double top up credit still)..

Anyway, now that Vodafone 3G is out, Telecom does have some catching up to do, to prove that its network can also be "fun", and not just all about speed.

I doubt you will be able to find any 3g mobiles at $200NZ .

My father says that hk has 3G but still not alot of people use it .

You will find all the 3G mobiles are around $700+

IF you buy unofficial/unknown stock/refurbish then it will be a little bit cheaper

I have the list of some 3g mobiles if you want them I can email u the price cos Im selling some at trademe .

The one thats released here the nokia 6680 is selling at about $807NZ in hong kong . Unofficial ones are at $750nZ . Not alot of difference

Nokia N70 and N90 are going to be released soon should be around $1000Nz follow by Sony Ericsson Z520i

379771 2005-08-11 12:51:00 Hmm.. no way your HK connections could get hold of a Nokia N91 is there? Now there is a phone with the features I am after. 3G, 2MP Digital Camera, 4GB HDD, Bluetooth and 802.11b. Not sure if it makes video calls, but I would sacrifice that for the other stuff.

Nokia Hk told me that The N series will be released near xmas!

I think the N series has been released in europe and america. Not quite sure

I've asked my father to look for an unofficial N70 but he says that he can't find it.Nobody has it for sale.

So N90/N70/N91 should arrive in hk by xmas.According to Nokia 4th quarter of 2005

I remember Nokia 6630 was released somewhere last december. It retailed for like $1000NZ official stock.Man now its like $650?

Price drops overtime.:)unlike vodafone here

379773 2005-08-12 09:50:00 Anyway, ran into a bit of new trouble.

While I can configure my 3G phone bought overseas to connect to Vodafone Live, all I see with my phone is the "text" version of Vodafone Live. Anyone can help? Apparently, I heard from a sales rep, that it's not just the settings that bar me from viewing the "cool version" of Vodafone Live, but also for every mobile sold here that is VLive capable, some sort of program is installed in the phone as well? Please confirm....

Settings on my phone (I could memorise them already)

Access Point: live.vodafone.com
TCP Proxy: 172.030.038.003 Port (which I'm forced to enter one): 8080
Homepage: live.vodafone.com

Anyone can help, thanks!!!!

379776 2005-09-01 13:22:00 carloschu, see above, to setup GPRS settings, for vodafone live. Note though, you would probably only get the image version, but no access to "Mobile TV". Or, if ur real unlucky, you'll have the black and white version as I do.

Videocall should work once you pop in ur sim card though, no configuration at all.

True Video call should work.No configuration is needed. Are you in a 3g coverage area? There should be an icon or some sort that shows you that your at a 3g coverage area
