| 379298 | 2005-08-10 08:07:00 | Thanks Rob. At $84, this is a cheapie. I like the LCD screen. It seems the inexpensive iPods do not have screens so navigation would be a pain. The heading shows it as a 256 Mb, but the specifications list it as 128 Mb. I would be reluctant to get one with only 128. Maybe when the price drops for 512 or larger players, I'll shelve the CD-MP3 Sony we have. My experience with the flash based thumbdive/mp3 players with screen's are that the screens are that small to be usefull, slow to acess the songs, and sound a bit tinny,I tried the ipod shuffle out for a week, easy to control although no way of knowing what the next song is, sound quality seemed very good,....Even metla says they sound good =, but would never own one as it would release him from his closet |

| 379299 | 2005-10-23 10:02:00 | Personally, I think having a decent set of earphones or headphones helps a lot too! If you get a crap pair of earphones, it's going to sound crap. Also, depends on the bitrate the mp3s are encoded as well will also help on the sound quality. I think Ipods are abit overpriced. Like other branded products, you pay the premium for the BRAND. I've compared an ipod with a cheaper unknown brand and don't notice any difference at all really. There are some cheapies out there that do sound cheap. I've bought one from www.mediaplayers.co.nz and they sound great! Suggest ou can try them if you want. Cheers. |
