665374 2008-05-04 07:41:00 Maybe you should create an Acronis "Secure Zone".
This is a hidden protected partition which Acronis stores its Image files in. It would be quick & be a backup to your USB drive.
See under Tools in Acronis.
Good idea ! - to be sure, to be sure. Reliance on one medium can quickly turn scary :dogeye:

Yes, I need to think about that . I'll read the manual in bed tonight .

I don't run Vista - XP Pro, but I'm already using 16 . 3GB with that . However, I do accept that my primary is too big .

I'll have to think about the USB2 thing as well . I'm sure it is though, but I'll have to check . Nothing is certain, is it? :D

Have been reading the user guide and, as I understand it, it depends upon what compression you use as to how many DVD's you need. You are prompted to put in the next DVD as necessary. (I am still using True Image 9 Home)

As suggested, I tried to create a 'Secure Zone' - it all seemed to go well, rebooted a couple of times - BUT although there is a red tick beside the drive & 'Pri,Act' beside it under flags, when I go to the next step 'Proceed' nothing happens . It keeps telling me to create a 'Secure Zone' again . I've gone through the process of 'Creating' several times with no change . Then when I try to delete it, it again tells me there isn't one created!

Suggestions would be welcome . I thought about uninstalling Acronis, and then reinstalling . What do you think?

And again, TIA . :)

Yes, that's what I did . However - it did take and hour & a half . It was suggested to me, that by using the 'Secure Zone' I might be able to cut the time down considerably . Hence - I was having a go . . . .

Perhaps if Mzee (?sp) sees this post he (or she!) might be able to shed some light .

Thanks for you comments - I rely on this forum to get me out of my pickles! :)

665382 2008-05-07 05:16:00 I've stuck with 10 for now as I read that 11 takes longer,so that doesn't help you! 10 takes about 20 minutes for 30Gig. Neil McC (178)

Drive image XML Here (www.runtime.org) is free have not tried it yet but will do at the weekend if I have time and no other PC's to look at except my own.
