378921 2005-08-09 09:59:00 So the drivers are evil, maniacal, and friendly? Or are the buses friendly?Buses friendly; drivers maniacal. So the equation equals a damn big vehicle with a lot of potential to make mincemeat of my little mazda. Greg (193)
378922 2005-08-09 10:07:00 Buses friendly; drivers maniacal.I've found it the opposite. Haven't had a bus try to take out my car, unlike the other maniacs in their private vehicles

Depending upon what area you live in, the public transport system gives no incentive to use it due to the limited routes offered and costs. Don't get me started on the trains ...

378923 2005-08-09 10:47:00 Don't get me started on the trains ...I wish I could have used trains when I commuted to the city. I love train travel, but can't comment on how their service is here in AK. It's a damn shame that the service has such a poor reputation, because it's such a relaxing way of travelling to work.

ps I am one of the fortunate few westerners who've done the 8 day Trans-Siberian train trip from Vladivostok to Moscow.

378924 2005-08-09 11:08:00 Trains are just as smelly as some of the Stagecoach busses .
They're not that special/more expensive than a bus and if I want to get home, I have several options . . .

A: Walk several kilometres @ 30 min (Preferred)
B: Get a bus which will take another 45 minutes + $$$ :horrified
C: An expensive taxi that drives slow :angry
D: Get a lift at someones time & expense . . . :xmouth:
each from the train station

Though at least the Bus (471/472) drops me in front of my street :D
