| 664945 | 2008-05-02 08:47:00 | Hp pavillion dv1000 note book running windows xp I downloaded the iso file and checked it with winmd5sum, burned to cd with nero and verified the data, pressed esc on start up and checked the boot order: 1floppydrive (havent got one) 2 cd/dvd drive 3 hard drive 4 can't remember sorry.. I shut down and inserted the ubuntu iso cd and started up, I could hear the cd spinning up but then windows starts to load as normal. tried several times- same result. I have also tried to boot from a ubuntu 7.1 iso cd with same result, checked the boot order several times, placed boot from cd/dvd drive at no1 position, burned new cds with newly downloaded files, burned a ubuntu 7.1iso cd with the file from pc world dvd. Help, windows sucks i want linux (in particular I want to play with linux EMC, a C.N.C application, I'm building a C.N.C router) |

How fast are you burning the CD? Tried it slower, at say 8x? Burning it on the same laptop as you're trying to install? |

| 664948 | 2008-05-03 00:14:00 | Get the ISO, burn it to DVD (or Cd) using ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/). Best image burning app out there. | wratterus (105) | ||
