664935 2008-05-02 06:16:00 The mid section fan appears to not be working in my tj09 case.

As you can see from the image, it has a molex connector (which i've connected to the psu, along with a 3 pin/1 wire fan connector. I've tried connecting the 3 pin to the pins labelled pwr_fan and sys_fan2 on my motherboard and neither of them make the fan work. Do i have a faulty fan? Or have i done something wrong?

Thanks

664936 2008-05-02 06:26:00 Hmm there isnt an option in the BIOS that can turn them on is there?

Usually the fan has a 3 pin on it which connects to the header on the mobo.

Either that, or if its got a molex adapter it goes to a spare molex connector from the PSU

I cant really figure out what you connected the fan to. Did u connect it to the molex somehow or straight to the header on the mobo??

664937 2008-05-02 06:31:00 From what I can tell by looking at the picture it looks like the Molex is for the power for the fan and the 3-pin connector is for the sensor so the mainboard bios or software can tell you how fast the fan is spinning.

Sounds like you might have a faulty fan.

664938 2008-05-02 11:51:00 Well molex is plugged in definitely...just not sure where the yellow one goes...i've tried plugging it in 2 spots, both times the fan doesn't spin. I'm pretty sure the fan should spin as soon as power is supplied? meaning i shouldn't need to change any settings in the bios...should i? EviLClouD (12981)
664939 2008-05-03 10:37:00 Ok well i've found out now that it works...but only after moving the molex cable. If it's in certain positions then the fan will just stop spinning...is this normal? Bad power cable? Bad fan?

Thanks

664940 2008-05-04 00:17:00 Here's a video on it.
www.youtube.com
It starts off with the fan 'off', when i move that wire towards me then the fan spins...moving it back causes it to turn off again.

664941 2008-05-04 00:25:00 sound's like a broken strand in the wire common on all electrical appliances gary67 (56)
664942 2008-05-04 10:49:00 Which wire though? PSU or fan?

Cheers

664943 2008-05-04 12:42:00 Plug the fan into a different cable from your PSU and see if it still does it. if so, then it's the fan. Agent_24 (57)
664944 2008-05-05 07:23:00 Lol cheers Agent_24...tried a different cable (don't know why i didn't try that first xD) and it works...pulled the cable out and guess what? A pin has been pushed in, therefore breaking/lowering the connection.

Thanks for all your help
