I have used Ubuntu and XP on the same computer for a while and large files are significantly slower on XP than Ubuntu. If I download a movie of 700mb on Ubuntu its complete by the morning. On XP it takes days. Any help would be appreciated. |

| 664698 | 2008-05-01 09:42:00 | Yes and No. I agree that some could be slower than others, dependent on how many peers there are. But this is all the torrents all the time. On Ubuntu it was consistent and reliable that every day the torrent would be completed. Thanks for your reply. |

| 664700 | 2008-05-01 20:57:00 | I wouldn't be surprised if that's true, I really prefer not to use windows however my son's school uses windows so he needs it at home for projects and I'm not proficient enough with Linux to set it up so it's similar to windows. Any suggestions for altering settings in XP to improve the downloads. By the way downloads of updates etc are generally fast, between 100-230kbps but torrents are between <5kbps. |

Any help would be appreciated . Well I know nothing of Ubuntu but I download a 700 mb file in under 20 minutes with windows . Sounds to me like you are useing dialup . |
