2008-05-05 09:49:00 | Hey everyone. Regardless of my computer I was just wondering what the best non external pci-e power connector graphics card there is. I started low with the Geforce 76xx and 86xx also the Radeon 26xx. I found out the Geforce 9500GT DDR3 is alot faster than the 8600GT so this leaves me wanted to buy a OC version of this card placing it between the 8600GTS and say a 8700M. Any better suggestions guys?

2008-05-05 10:02:00 | The best? The best is obviously the 9800GX2 in quad SLi, not some random mid end card... | SPARTAN 860 (2618) | |
2008-05-05 10:06:00 | vga.zol.com.cn Same website that had 8800gs specs before it released. It is effectively a halved 9600GT (256bit) vs 9500GT (128bit) 64SP vs 32SP. But the DDR3 version is a bit faster than a halved 9600GT say around 70% of a 9600GT.

What are you planning to run? standard desktop apps or high end gaming? Yes I want a GPU that requires no external power because it won't cause a huge load on my PSU which is a SATA PSU and only has one 4-pin molex (all the rest are sata) I'd like to run some games and the best I've seen so far is the 9500GT. I just want to know what the best GPU that requires no external power. Not a quote on my PSU or system =]. |

2008-05-06 07:57:00 | Captain - I'm NOT having a go at you Ok :groan: - if this is still the same Acer Aspire M1610 maybe others would like to see the History of this question ( . pcworld . co . nz/showthread . php?t=89137" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) At the end of the day this has been asked and suggestions have been made by many people . The case/PSU is the limiting factor in this upgrade . Nothing will have changed unless the PSU is upgraded, and as you rightly pointed out it has a mini PSU and cant have a standard size PSU installed - if a Graphic card is too powerful, requiring more grunt from the PSU then you run the risk of damaging something . The last thing any one wants is to suggest some thing then it blows or damages the PC .

2008-05-06 09:06:00 | Argh what the hell? Graphics cards that don't use external power use much less power!!!! Therefore power requirements are much less. So if you don't mind... DC ouput: 300w (+3.3V & +5V= 130W MAX +3.3v-20a(ORG),+5V-26.0A(RED),+12V1-8.0A(YEL) +12V2-14.0a(yel/black),+5vsb-2.0A(PURP),-12V-0.8A(BLUE) Doesn't matter about external power or not a 300W cheap PSU will still have trouble running any modern GPU. So don't have a go at Wainuitech hes only attempting to help you from losing your "precious" money when something blows as the PSU is overloaded.
