2008-05-04 23:46:00 | New computer, running Vista Home Premium. Very pleased except for one thing which is driving me steadily mad. When I boot a popup arrives saying, "Windows has blocked some startup programs". So I kill it but every time I go to a new site, it is there again. I have tried everything to turn it off permanently but nothing works. I just wonder if the OEM has also loaded SP1 and if this has anything to do with what Juha Saarinen was talking about in the April issue of PC World? Presumably I shall have to go into the registry and if anyone can tell me what to do, I shall be most grateful.

2008-05-05 01:19:00 | No need to go into the Reg - click start, in the search box type in Security In the results click Windows Security Centre. On the left, click Change the way Security (www.imagef1.net.nz) Center alerts me. next select Dont Notify me and Dont Display the Icon (www.imagef1.net.nz) - that should turn it off - other setting you will get the warnings.

On the left, click Change the way Security Center alerts me. next select Dont Notify me and Dont Display the Icon - that should turn it off - other setting you will get the warnings. No sign of Don't notify me etc. Any further advice? Thanks. |

2008-05-05 01:54:00 | Hi Scouse - Thats Odd, you should get the result Here is what (www.imagef1.net.nz) you should be doing at the start, then the other two Pictures should appear. (Areas hight lighted bottom Left top left) If they dont, what are you actually getting in the way of windows (look at its name, top left) The other way to open it is start/control Panel ( depending what view you have set) - click Security or Security Center Classic view (www.imagef1.net.nz) or Default View (www.imagef1.net.nz) Note: if using the default view, actually click on the wording "Security" ( in green)

2008-05-06 11:30:00 | Yesterday I was sure that Wainuitech had solved my problem with this "Windows has blocked........." pop-up that was driving me nuts. However on booting up today the damn thing is back. When I go into Security Centre again I find Vista has just reverted the setting to show all warnings and icons and I just wonder if there is something built that will not permit what it describes as "Not recommended". As before I wonder also if this is an SP1 glitch? Any help gratefully received.
