665495 2008-05-03 11:58:00 Telecom/Xtra are selling out of their D-link DSL-504T (wired, 4x ethernet port, ADSL2+) modem/routers and will be offering only single user, and wireless routers in future; I got one for $80 today, have to be quick if you want one. feersumendjinn (64)
665496 2008-05-04 01:37:00 I wish you the best of luck, they couldn't even give them away!!

Overheating is a problem.

Got a good 4 port modem/router from Dick Smith for $68.

I use a DSL504T here, and it seems fine. Certainly no overheating is obvious. Maybe I should take it apart and check for hotspots on the PCB?

I have seen several customers D-Link routers fail due to heating problems as well. The over heating as obvious , like a burning smell.

665499 2008-05-04 12:51:00 It's probably the useless GSC capacitors they use. Crap capacitors + hot environment = bad. Agent_24 (57)
665500 2008-05-04 17:55:00 and/or idiots (who know no better) placing them in such a way that they receive no ventilation.... the vents on those (or atleast the g640t) are such that sandwiching it between tow books, or lying it under a magazine could be potentially disastrous motorbyclist (188)

665504 2008-05-06 07:39:00 When installed & placed correctly I've never found anyone with a major problem with the 504t (incl. myself). fnphoto (2434)
