381793 2005-08-17 12:02:00 Yeah, go to a random website and allow it to install arbitrary executables onto your machine.

Great idea champ.

Sam, open Zone Alarm and via Program Control you can allow MS access.

And yep, as Ninja says, it is most likely a con, clever but a con.

Are you sending us PF1ers to a site that tries to insert a trojan or other nasty into our 'puters?

.

P S Wonder if the Latin thing will catch on? :D

What it says on the site is true. Those links are harmless, unless you were to save the text as a .vbs (or relevant file extension for said virus) and run it.

I like the pretty graphs I can get off our servers telling us how many of each virus got detected today in our company. :D

381800 2005-09-03 00:23:00 Well, for some reason, Windows Update has stopped working on this PC which is running XP Pro SP2/IE 6. When I try to connect to Windows Update, the MS site insists that I am not running IE 6 and it tells me I have to download the whole mess all over again.

I remembered this thread, installed the Firefox plugin, and voila, updated Windoze. Less hassle and lots faster than the usual method using IE6. Now to do a scan for nasties...
