| 381681 | 2005-08-16 23:12:00 | I was not aware that the wholesale arangements are due to change 31st August. Apparently, due the ISPs whinging, Telecom has cancelled the arrangement where you could have Jetstream through them and your connectivity with another ISP. I liked that arrangement. However the announcement was made to all the ISPs on 14th April and they were supposed to notify customers with this setup that they had to choose - one or the other - not both. They didn't. (paradise that is) In fact they didn't notify my relatives with the same arrangement either. I only found out as someone told me. So we had to either have all phone services through Telstra or go to Xtra. What a hideous choice. I have been forced to join the dark side and become an Xtra person. What was typical is the Xtra idiot tried to tell me this was incorrect too - even though I was reading the Telecom Announcement. Had to make him go check with a senior person, then he admits, yes, thats right. And this is suposed to be the wonderful commissions solution to lame broadband in NZ. What a joke. Thats like saying you drive a Ford - therefore you must only use a certain petrol station or chnage your whole car to use another one. I'm going away to fume in a corner now......... :angry :angry :angry :angry |

I fought Telecom all the way on this including seeing my Member of Parliament, and made a thorough nuisance of myself. So now Telstra are supplying my ADSL and I remain with Paradise, and don't have to change email address. Telecom are continuing to supply my phones, though I had also requested to move phones over to Telstra too. That is a reasonable compromise, I will await and see if I still get the Telecom discount on line rental for being in a Saturn cable area (though not able to connect to cable). God help Telecom if I don't :) |

Not Jetstream through Telstra. So I have to live with it. Lucky I don't need to ring the helpdesk for help with stuff........ |

| 381685 | 2005-08-17 04:37:00 | I am not sure why you were not contacted pctek - I received an email from Telstra a few weeks ago, with an invitation to phone and discuss it. I eventually made the choice to stay with Paradise and to transfer everything over to TelstraClear. The main reasons were that I could keep my phone number and email address so I wouldn't have to get all my stationery reprinted, and so that I could stay out of the clutches of xtra. And it was slightly cheaper with Telstra. I have my cellphone with Vodafone, so I am finally shaking the Telecom dust off my feet. Well, I would be, but even though the confirmation of the arrangement was acknowledged by email from Telstra on 1 August, nothing has been heard from them since. I am wondering if it all happened, the silence is so deafening. My monthly billing cycle with Paradise ended yesterday, so maybe they were waiting for that... |

| 381686 | 2005-08-17 06:26:00 | I've lost interest - they did not contact me or my relatives. They bleat and moan at Telecom because they are not getting enough profit from the whole business but to be fair - why don't they get off their butts and do some changes to the infrastructure themselves. Oh no, couldn't have that - try and make Telecom do it and they can then continue to suck the money up like parasites. |

| 381687 | 2005-08-17 12:01:00 | It is up to the ISP how they handle it. They can still sell the WSA stuff where you use Telecom's bandwidth - however the new rules mean that all the billing is done through the ISP. That or they can sell UBS where you use the companys bandwidth, not Telecom's. Also, it was the responsibility of the ISP you use to contact you re: the changes, not Telecom. We're going through it all at the moment at work. |

And yes, I know Paradise was supposed to contact me - a whole 14 days to go and they hadn't - and Telecom sent that notice to them in April. itiful - a case of a sitting on their backsides I think. What do you mean "we are going through it"? Leaving it till the last minute? |

| 381689 | 2005-08-17 23:32:00 | (snip) Well, I would be, but even though the confirmation of the arrangement was acknowledged by email from Telstra on 1 August, nothing has been heard from them since. I am wondering if it all happened, the silence is so deafening. My monthly billing cycle with Paradise ended yesterday, so maybe they were waiting for that... Well, I have a degree of sympathy with pctek - yesterday I phoned the Telstra number I was given in the email of 1 August and spoke to an apparatchik who said that she couldn't help and she would pass on a message to another department who would phone me back. No call yet. I have also tried replying to the confirmation email as suggested in the email itself, and no response to that either. And my billing cycle for Paradise came and went yesterday, and there is no change despite the fact that I asked for an upgrade to the 10Gb plan. Mayhap I am out of a frying pan into a fire through leaving the price gouging Telecom for the unknown Telstra. They certainly don't seem to be very efficient - once they get the sign up that is! |
