Night Owl Computing over a period of time:

replaced Graphics card
replaced sound card (was onboard)
replaced installed Win 2000 with illegal pirate copy of Win98SE
replaced OE with her recommendation - Incredimail - and managed to delete all contacts etc from OE and not import them into Incredimail

I would never replace any Email client with Incredimail. No Email Client including Outlook, Outlook Express, Pegasus and heaps of Linux ones.

Just came back from the golf course and listened to a similar thing from our caterer.

Our caterer however gave me the instruction to clean out her computer because it is slow. Now I have not seen it yet but she tells me it is running WinXP and her Grandson uses it aged 13. He has his own computer but that is too slow to run his games (whatever they are)

Hmmmmm.

Will wait for further information before I give advice to her.

The contacts from OE and anything else in the way of photos, documents, spreadsheets and anything you want to keep including all downloads from the internet etc should have been kept on removable media before the system left his house.

Most repair places point out that YOU are responsible for your own data.
