380618 2005-08-12 13:12:00 Greetings all,

A friend of mine purchased a head unit for his car a while back, IIRC it was from DSE. It had a USB Input which claimed if you put any FAT16/32 formatted device in, it would be able to read mp3/wma off it.

AFAIK the device cost about $190.

I just got a bonus from work of a $100 Westfield shopping voucher, and seeing as my car was recently broken in to, what better way to spend the money than on a replacement Head Deck.

So off to the Dse website I go, only to find they now sell soley Panasonic Head units.

Can somebody suggest another place where I could get something like that? Whilst I realise it may not be within westfield, I figured I'd ask, as I have somebody who's going shopping in Westfield this weekend and will happily use the vouchers in return for cash equivalent (What are friends for!? :D ).

Many thanks

Chill.

380619 2005-08-12 23:08:00 They are still relatively rare in NZ Chill, and DSE pretty much went out of car stereo heads a couple of years back. Ask your mate what brand it was, that would be a good start.

If he can't remember, you'd be best to phone some car audio specialists and find out what brands have that feature, then phone around some retailers to see what they stock.

BTW, what does IIRC mean??

Cheers

380622 2005-08-12 23:48:00 Hello Chill,

DSE was selling them under their own DSE brand, they were excellent value for money (retail as low as $199) they supported as you say both USB and SD flash cards.

The last ones I sold was in March of this year, I checked their stock and they have none left now.

None of the Panasonics they now offer have anywhere near the same features or Price

I know of no one else who stocks similar items.

Regards

380623 2005-08-12 23:51:00 I'm sure I saw one when I was looking at car stereos at Parallel Importers on the North Shore a while ago. Looking at their online selection of head decks (www.parallelimported.co.nz) I can't spot it, but they may be worth giving a call. Jen (38)
