| 666152 | 2008-05-06 04:55:00 | Taking into account everything that has been said - i found another option on trademe, i do not want to have to put it together so buying indivdual parts on pricespy is not an option. The following is listed on trademe: ASUS P5GC-MX LGA775 All In One Motherboard DDR2 SATA2 Support Pentium D 65nm Dual Core total 4ghz Intel Duo Core processor E2180 2.0GHz 1M FSB800 2gb ddr2 667mhz 20x liteon duel layer dvd burner Western digital 250 gigabyte For $470 buy now, it is also local to me. Would this be a better option for me? |

| 666154 | 2008-05-06 06:54:00 | Just looking through all the posts one thing that I cant see with all this -$500 PC - WHERES the OS ?? Fine if you are going to use Linux. BUT add in the price for a OS, bearing in mind those spec's would be best to use XP - so include in approx $150 for Windows XP. I'd like to know where some of those prices actually come from that are quoted, most of them are below wholesale. Please prove me wrong - post links showing the shop that sells the items with prices quoted that the average person can obtain. As for the P4 CPU - nothing wrong with it, most of the PC's here run P4 3.0 and 1 Gb RAM work perfectly and are not slow, a couple even run vista quite happily |

My price matched the original posters price basically a new PC for the same price as the second hand one . Original poster stated they have an OS already so therefore why would anyone count the cost of a Microsoft license? |

| 666158 | 2008-05-06 11:20:00 | IF the OS is new then yep no problem , if its not then legally not always transferable to a new PC. As for c1 price - well I just looked, EG: Seagate 250Gb drive in this earlier thread- $74.00 - C1's price $90.65 for the IDE & $80.55 for SATA - slight difference. Doesn't worry me in the slightest, the cheaper components are sometime cheap because they are rubbish - read that as parts can fail quicker - I see it every day from customers who have tried to " try to save a buck" buy rubbish components then complain when its always failing or always having problems - get what you pay for. BUT if you can buy a PC new & cheap at least you would get the usual standard 1 year warranty - where as second hand you usually wont & you dont know its history. |
