665585 2008-05-06 23:31:00 Hi again Speedy.

Yep still on dialup. In Wellington. Early in the year I tossed up between a new LCD monitor and broadband. My old eyes demanded the LCD monitor so the broadband was put on hold. Will be getting TelstraClear cable broadband in the not too distant future I hope. We are on them for phone line and Paradise dialup. Never mind. I guess I can wait and see if MS release it on a CD or PC World release it on a cover disc as per SP2. No real hurry anyway I shouldn`t think.

Cheers:

665586 2008-05-06 23:39:00 Just as a matter of interest, the download sizes on the two sites you gave seem to have changed themselves. The iso file has changed to 544mb and the network installation package has gone down to 316mb.

665588 2008-05-07 01:32:00 I take it youre on dialup Pipercub?? Where in NZ are you?

The link I gave for the Network install looks like its dead. But the ISO works

The Network Install link is fine at the moment Speedy. Just d/l from there.

Xnet may be slow at peak times, but SP3 came in at 760KB/s! Be very happy to burn a copy if anyone wants one. I'm in Auckland.

I managed to get the ISO no probs, earlier this morning, then burned it to cd.

Yup, if anyone is around Mt Eden, they can bring a cd, and I'll burn it.

I'm kinda running low on blanks (and money for that matter  )

Or I could / would send some cd's out to wherever / whoever

Thats what size the files are meant to be. Ones the install.exe file, the other is an ISO, with the .Net Framework files in it. By the looks of it.

665593 2008-05-07 07:02:00 If anyone in Nelson wants it I could be persuaded to burn it for them for the price of a CD gary67 (56)
665594 2008-05-07 07:27:00 I installed SP3 on three computers today using Microsoft Update - 66Mb per install because I was up to date with SP2 updates.

It required me to turn on Automatic Updates in all three cases, even though that was already turned on on all three PCs. When it completed the installations, I checked and found that Automatic Updates had been returned to the default settings - every day at 3am (when all three of my PCs are shut down (duh! Microsoft is really bright) and automatically download and install without notification.

So I had to change them all back to my custom settings of course. Is there any hope that one day Microsoft may recognise that their customers know best?
