I mostly use some dirt cheap hosting in the States (300GB/3TB, PHP/Python/Ruby, MySQL/PostgreSQL blah blah, $4/month) for personal stuff. It's about as shared hosting as it gets (try ableapp.com here (www.yougetsignal.com)) but it works well enough for my interests.
Web-hosting from home isn't a great idea/alternative, especially if you're using a package designed for development environments. Sure WAMP (if you're talking about it in this sense (www.wampserver.com)) is great for testing/developing locally but I wouldn't consider it a live option. |
