2005-08-18 04:47:00 | I was with Clear.Net, and then I joined Telecom Xtra, but kept my Clear.Net account to hour dailup only. I then migrated to Xtra Jetstream 3GB and got 4+ MBps. I then got reduced to 256 kbps if I stayed on the 3GB plan, so I upgraded to Xtra Jetstream Adventure and got my 4+ Mbps again. Wholesale ISP services can not meet this bandwidth and I believe they are still limited to 256 kbps. There are plans for 1 Mbps, but this is still only 25% of what I currently get.

2005-08-18 04:53:00 | I used to like Paradise back when it was an independantly owned smaller ISP. They were great then... :( And, on the odd occasion I phoned the help desk, the Managing Director himself was likely to answer and sort out the problem. Can't remember names now except the name Shane Cole springs to mind and who was also a helpful guy. At least real people answered the phone, and usually straight away, not robots ;)

2005-08-18 05:00:00 | I just received an email from Telstra to say: "We have attempted to request your toll calls and line rental from Telecom NZ, however this request was rejected due to "Unposted Service Orders" on your Telecom account. Please contact Telecom to close these orders and advise us when we can proceed with your request. "Thank you" Right, a masterpiece of clear communication. I had Sky on my Telecom bill, and closed that on 1 August. It took Sky or Telecom until 6 August to close that down. In the meantime, it seems as though Telstra has been sitting on this refusal since 6 August without letting me know, and I probably still would not have heard without asking twice... Oh dear, what have I done?

Well you could always undo it... |

2005-08-18 11:14:00 | Telecom have increased period till Oct 21st I believe. | ninja (1671) | |
2005-08-23 08:18:00 | Sorry for the newbie questions, but it has to be asked, as time is running out... I'm in the same situation with many Jetstream users connecting through Other ISP's (Orcon, in my situation). At the moment it looks like UBS is still inferior to that of Jetstream and as such wish to avoid having to shift on to UBS at this time What are the ISP's that people know of that have signed on to WSA instead of UBS? What is involved with shifting my Jetstream Account to an ISP that offers WSA Jetstream? Ninja, Just to clarify, are you saying that Telecom have extended the JPP transition period to Oct 21? Thanks in advance

2005-08-23 09:32:00 | Ninja, Just to clarify, are you saying that Telecom have extended the JPP transition period to Oct 21?At the very latest yes. ISP's should be aiming to have everyone migrated well before then. | ninja (1671) | |
2005-08-30 10:30:00 | At the very latest yes. ISP's should be aiming to have everyone migrated well before then. I hope you're right ninja, what's your source for this date? I've only recently been contacted by Telstra about this and really got a run around and lots of phone tag. Now they are saying we will lose our Internet on 1 September, and dont have an alternative setup yet. Currently I've ordered Telstra Cable Internet (they arranged a special offer somehow on the 10gb plan as $139 was too much for me!). However not sure if I will go through with this, alternative thinking of is Orcon, I like the 1Gb free, then 10Gb for $10 options. Any comments on these choices?

2005-08-30 10:42:00 | I hope you're right ninja, what's your source for this date? Our Telecom account manager . Trust me on this one, if anyones going to have the low down on this it's me . And, on the odd occasion I phoned the help desk, the Managing Director himself was likely to answerYeah thats nice and all, however it's just not realistic anymore . I bet when Michael Hill opened his first jewellery shop he'd be the guy at the counter helping you choose a piece fo jewellery to say sorry to your wife with because you backed over the cat . He's now a large chain store, expecting him to serve you any store you walk into isn't going to happen . We get people who call up work : "Oh can I speak to $directorsname please" Then when asked about it: "Oh he helped me with my connection last time" "I see when was that?" "Oh 1996 I think" "Yeah, he doesn't do that any more"

2005-09-23 10:20:00 | (...) the confirmation of the arrangement was acknowledged by email from Telstra on 1 August, (...)... I just thought that I would like to tell all you folks out there in Press F1 land that I am still waiting for my phone to be switched over to Telstra even though they confirmed the arrangement on 1 August... And I am still waiting for my internet connection to be switched over to High Speed4 (ostensibly 2Mb download, 10Gb limit). I was phoned a wee while ago to say that it had all been switched over, and I would have my HighSpeed connection when my billing cycle turned over. Lo and behold, the billing cycle turned over, and I was still on the same plan. Phoned Telstra yet again today I was told that it had to go to another section to sort it out and someone would phone me. Some hours later an embarrassed Telstra guy phoned to apologise saying I hadn't been switched over at all, and that I had been given misinformation. He had petitioned his manager to try to expedite things. Such a sweet guy, I almost felt sorry for him... Some hours later nothing has been expedited. Any of you thinking of switching everything over to Telstra Clear because you are with Paradise ADSL may want to think again. It has taken over two months and still diddly squat action. No wonder the Oz gumberment is thinking of selling them. Personally I don't think they could give them away if this is the level of their service.
