381281 2005-08-21 09:41:00 watching 3news tonite with don brash, as I can't remember his exact lines I won't quote, but it sounded a little like this "The harder worker's will be recieving the most out of our tax cut policy", what I took that as saying is the more you earn the harder you work, which scares me a little,Surely the amount you are paid is not a direct reflection on how hard you work.. plod (107)

Perhaps if you took the converse view you might get, those that don't make an effort will no be rewarded.

381284 2005-08-21 11:02:00 The person who started this thread should add a poll on as it would be interesting to see who the majority of PressF1 visitors support. :) maccrazy (6741)
381285 2005-08-22 08:16:00 Looks like we are going to give up on National and vote Labour, because:
Trevor Mallard will no longer be the Education Minister, and
A return of funding for 3 and 4 yr olds going to a privately run early childhood centre, and
more money for working families.

After Don's Orewa speech, I went over to the Nats, but now Helen and crew are looking a lot better.

A poll on this wouldn't be "interesting," because it would be completely worthless.

Only some of the already-committed would reply - not the undecideds.
And people like me who think unscientific polls on important topics are stupid wouldn't take part, no matter what their views.

PF1 polls are fine provided nobody takes them seriously. Political polls need to have some basis in statistics.
So who would know what percentage of PF1 members (1) Read the poll thread
(2) Made the effort to vote (3) Are actually enrolled to vote & (4) Live in NZ?

None of that would matter except that ( human nature being what it is ) in no time, somebody would be quoting the results as fact...

The thread's good for expressing opinions. We can argue in it & take what we want out of it. That's as much as any forum like this can do, while remaining believable.

381287 2005-08-22 09:11:00 Vote? meeehh. It requires effort. If we vote for someone who is going to ensure they will do all they say? You never know, the people that you voted against might have actually been a better choice 5 months down the track. mejobloggs (264)
381288 2005-08-22 09:49:00 Well, that's the chance we all take.

And how will you know whether you chose correctly or not if you don't even try?
