381261 2005-08-19 14:27:00 Here's a better way to think of it.

A family that gets money from working for families does not receive $x a week from tax payers - they pay $x a week less tax.

The $8.50/hr I get a work (don't laugh I'm 15 & at school) works out to $6.84 an hour after tax, or $92 a week.

If I (god forbid) had a child tomorrow (which is not currently a possiblility thankfully), and got tax relief of $5 a week, it wouldn't cost you anything, I'd still be working for all the money I get, and some.

People with jobs that get "tax relief" don't cost you money, they just give you less.

381263 2005-08-19 21:38:00 When Sir Robert called the snap election,
I was going to ATI now AUT Auckland University of Technology

They had a revolving black board, I wrote on it "Vote National, someone has too"
then revolved the back board so the message was hidden and would appear just after the start of the next class, I was told the next week, students like my joke

381264 2005-08-20 03:39:00 Of course it helps that jeanette Fitzsimmons, who campaigned to get the hydro stopped in Otago and is against a number of forms of power generation owns an enormous number of shares in the wind farm company - the power generation she is currently promoting. Naturally its all because its so green and nothing to do with any profits she might make. :D

lets just clear this up with both a press release from Act (www.scoop.co.nz) and the Greens (www.scoop.co.nz).

381265 2005-08-20 04:54:00 Easist way to get a tax break is take a mini-retirement every 5 years, spend a year on the dole and collect back a portion of the hard earned that the government has taken from you. Metla (12)

381267 2005-08-20 05:39:00 The Working for Families Scheme is all arse about face. Instead of paying couples to have more and more children, families with more than one child should receive no family benefit and pay taxes on an increasing scale the more children they have, in order to discourage contributing to the worlds overpopulation.

What do people think
I don't object to labour helping families. Although I think its a bit rich seeing all those so called "poor" families on TV and in the papers ($80,000 per year) bleating on about their "struggle". What they hell are they doing with it?
But I agree sooner or later people will have to be made to stop breeding or it happens the hard way.
Everything comes down to overpopulation - pollution, loss of animal habitat, unemployment, famines...etc

More likely Mrs Metla would beat me black and blue, then send me back to work (me thinks the lack of food, heating, petrol, housing, clothing would affect her well before i noticed)
