666216 2008-05-05 08:31:00 Might be an ECS mobo ? (www.ecs.com.tw(V1.0)&CategoryID=1&MenuID=82&LanID=0)

Does it say, if its L4S8A2 version 1 or 2??

There maybe more than 1 version / revision of this mobo

The above link for the drivers say

C-Media CMI973x/9761A Audio Driver

666217 2008-05-05 08:33:00 You'll need to get the drivers made for Vista if available.
Also, according to this (www.ecs.com.tw) page it looks like it is a C-Media Chip and not Realtek.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the audio driver.

I helped a friend with his machine - same issue. Uninstalled, got latest drivers, rebooted - it didn't work. did it all over again, and it worked.

666219 2008-05-06 05:38:00 Plus if you put SP1 on that can also have a problem with AC97. You have to get the very very latest to work in SP1 i think (which is not found through your mobo site, but through the realtek site) mejobloggs (264)
