666220 2008-05-05 08:24:00 Greetings all,

Ive been having issues with my Systray the last few days and Im not really sure where I should begin.

When I boot I get one or two, but not many. Screenshot here:
www.imagef1.net.nz

There should be more systray icons than that, like my Atheros Client Utility (ACU.exe) which you can see in the Task Manager is actually running just fine.

Here's what it looks like if I reload the Atheros Client Utility (ACU.exe):

As you can see its in BOTH in the task manager, but only in the systray after Ive reloaded this.

I noticed it happening a couple of days back.

Any ideas on what might be causing it?

Cheers

666221 2008-05-05 08:28:00 Not one of the other programs loading on startup whose systray icon is jamming it up? CYaBro (73)
666222 2008-05-05 09:10:00 RIGHT click on the task Bar / Properties/ Customise Locate the App you want to be shown, then click it and change to what ever instruction you want - always Show, hide when inactive etc EXAMPLE (www.imagef1.net.nz) If you want to go really crowded, untick the Hide Inactive Icons on the Left ;) wainuitech (129)
666223 2008-05-05 09:34:00 Its not that its *hidden*, coz if you look at the screenshot you'll see Ive clicked the arrow to show all and its still not in there. Hiding / un-hiding icons is easy, unfortunately this is slightly worse ;)

AVG has done it, ActiveSync, the additional Volume software, things like that... all not showing up most of the time now. So this rules out it being application-specific.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

666224 2008-05-05 09:43:00 Are the App(s) you want actually selected to be shown all the time - I had the exact same thing with the Eset & that F icon in mine (as shown) as soon as I changed them to show all the time it fixed it.

They used to be there all the time then for some unexplained reason which to this day I never found out what happened they had become "Always Hide".

PS: They were showing in task manager as running.

666225 2008-05-05 09:47:00 So the icon is set to "Always Show" right?

Maybe try reverting all icons to default and see if it goes back to normal.

666226 2008-05-05 09:50:00 This may help (support.microsoft.com). Although I am not sure the potential fix is acceptable considering your network setup. Jen (38)
666227 2008-05-05 10:05:00 Just adding to jens suggestion - I was going to suggest the same thing - This site here (www.annoyances.org) - has several people with the same problem with the Icons - that fix was suggested in post 14, seems to have worked for a few people. EDIT: the site I posted actually has 1 more item disabled. wainuitech (129)
666228 2008-05-05 11:10:00 Thats an interesting thought... seeing as now that I think about it, its been happening since I installed the Windows UPNP discovery stuff the other day.
Changed SSDP to manuel, still no joy :(

Tray settings look like this:

666229 2008-05-05 11:15:00 Its OK! Nobody panic!

Turns out I had to set it to Disabled, setting it to Manual still started it up on boot :p

FINALLY I have my "safely remove devices" icon back!

Thanks all :) SSDP was the culprit, what a PITA!
