| 666205 | 2008-05-05 08:12:00 | Hi all, I have had my Vista dektop for 4 months now. I am plesed with it but it has started doing some annoying things in the last few weeks. Firstly, there's what seems to be a keyboard problem. I have a Dell bluetooth Keyboard and mouse. Occasionally (maybe once or twice a week) I will be using the computer and it will behave as if the right arrow key is being pressed constantly. For instance I will go to type something and it will end up putting it in backwards. Flyout menus will instantly retract etc. I thought it may be a communication error, but turning off the keyboard and starting it again makes no difference. The only thing that I've been able to do is restart the computer with many sets of shortcuts. Second thing is also quite strange. Often it happens when I safely remove a flash disc. A box will come up saying "Windows Media player has stopped working. Please wait to find a solution etc." I use iTunes as my media player, and WMP is hardly ever in use. It also occasionally happens when the computer starts up. The Windows problem reports & solutions menu gives the following data. | 666206 | 2008-05-05 10:25:00 | Sorry, can't help with your problems but I've had something similar happen with my USB drive. I've also had Vista about 4 months but only since about a week ago whenever I plug in the drive Media Player searches it for new files. Something about "Sync or Sync Center" which I can't find out how to stop, theres no media files on the drive anyway. Never used to do it. |

| 666207 | 2008-05-05 11:17:00 | This question is to both GorCh & Bones - what programs have been installed and are still installed since the PC was new - I have been doing a bit of reading and the one thing that comes up time and time again for both the Bluetooth Keyboard and media player is something is conflicting with the blue tooth/ media player. In bone's case that sysnc can be something that sync's to something else Eg: PC to PDA for example. Can you both supply a list of programs please, think carefully to anything that was installed then the problems started. |

| 666208 | 2008-05-05 21:13:00 | I seem to have got rid of it. Removed USB as a device in Sync options(Media Player). I only noticed this after SP1 was installed. Plug in stick and would get the vista version of the hourglass while it searched the drive, couldn't do anything till it finished. Hopefully gone for good. |

| 666209 | 2008-05-05 21:44:00 | Checking the WMP problem on my error logs, it started a week after SP1 was installed. It was also about the same time that I started playing with PortableApps Suite, which I had considered as a possibility. Chrecking Add remove, the only other thing about that time was palm desktop. Not entirely sure about the keyboard, perhaps about the time of SP1? Cheers, GorCh |

| 666210 | 2008-05-05 22:06:00 | First thing I would be doing is check on the vendors site for the keyboard for any new drivers - SP1 does " break" some apps, new drivers may fix that. I would also remove the software PortableApps Suite, that may be causing a problem somehow with the bluetooth. I looked at that software and its meant to be installed on a flash /portable drive - which may ? be the problem. I'm downloading it right now, and will see if I can duplicate the problem. |

| 666211 | 2008-05-05 22:10:00 | Have been looking at the dell website (yes comp is a Dell). There is an update to the keyboard, but it is a new version of the setpoint software and not a driver. It is 300 odd MB and is dated before I bought my computer. But may do that after Uni. Portable Apps is on a flash drive - I was thinking in reference to the WMP problem that was occuring when I remove the flash drive. That I think was when it originally started. Cheers, GorCh |

When I first had my computer, whenever I put a flash drive, or a CD/DVD into the drives/USBs, the autoplay window would pop up. Now that no longer happens. I can't seem to find a way to turn it on again. How is this done on Vista? |
