| 380873 | 2005-08-14 05:08:00 | I'm sure we all have our opinion about the great inventions of the last 100 years- a century of enormous change and progress. Some of these have been causes of major changes to society, and to us all individually as we live our lives. But what of the minor inventions?? What have been your favourites?? To kick off, I will nominate the plastic toothpaste tube which enables that last bit to be used, and the firelighter, which makes it possible for even a non-boyscout to get the fire going. Cheers Richard |

| 380876 | 2005-08-14 06:35:00 | I'd vote for resealable plastic bags or perforated toilet paper. How about the simplest inventions that marketing guys have turned into something different... the humble tooh brush that got a sexy flexy handle then special bristles, then motorised, then oscillating, then a tongue scraper... the best and most useless by far is the motorised dental floss :D |

| 380879 | 2005-08-14 09:24:00 | Here is a Gallup poll on the 20th Century including inventions. www.pollingreport.com In the big league, anti-biotics would be my pick. This development in medicine is the single-most reason for extended lifespans and quality of life. Minor? Sliced bread. :D |
