666880 2008-05-07 05:11:00 No lies Ive been watching it for about 45 minutes now, getting kinda bored to be honest. Its rebooted itself twice, and Ive put in the User details etc to log in, and it appears to be 'thinking'..

Ive just got a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 for a client and it came with Vista Business... sure glad I didnt un-package it when I got on-site to install software & set it up on his network :D

Usually take this long thou?

666882 2008-05-07 05:27:00 Well Monkey Boy Balmer would say that after 5 years in development Vista is still a "work in progress" ;) vitalstatistix (9182)

I assume you mean the "checking performance" stage?

It shouldn't take 1 hour (!) to "check performance" unless it's got 512MB...

Stil surprises me though. I think mine took me 5-10 mins to complete that phase.

Is that regular? Seems to vary - Any PC's I build with Vista take around 45 Min - 1 hour from first booting from the DVD to up and running.

After the reboots and checking performance - usually about 5-10 Minutes.

Mind you I have had some laptops take a LOT longer.

I had one take over 40 minutes at that point - I got bored as well :sleep , and went down to the post office and bank, it was finished when I got back about 30 minutes later.
