666796 2008-05-07 04:38:00 Hi all

Am confused by the different hardware specs on the Xnet site and hope you can give an opinion on which router to get.

The 3 that are listed on the site are:

Linksys WAG54GP2v2
Linksys WRTP54G-AU
Linksys WRP400

It sounds like the first one is the most popular but I'm struggling to see the difference between the 3? Also they seem quite difficult to track down so I'm thinking that if I see one for a good price I should just get it.

Am I overthinking this or is there some sort of reason for going with one and not the others?

Thanks
Susan

666797 2008-05-07 04:49:00 Is this just for broadband internet, or VOIP (phone) as well? rumpty (2863)
666798 2008-05-07 04:56:00 It's for Xnet Fusion so yep, phone and broadband. susann (12077)
666799 2008-05-07 05:09:00 Ah, I don't know then, sorry. There are people on this forum using Fusion, so you should get a response rumpty (2863)
666800 2008-05-07 09:04:00 Depends if you have another computer networked, (ie; laptop) and whether you need a wireless one or ethernet cable connected one.
I have just looked at the ones they recommend and they tell you there which one would best suit your needs.

I chose to get the PAP2T because all I needed was an ATA as my existing router is wireless and it isn't VOIP capable.

Have you phoned WxC? They will help you to choose the one most suitable.

666801 2008-05-07 09:20:00 I got my ATA at www.acquire.co.nz and was cheaper than the Xnet site, so it pays to shop around if you're watching the $s. lakewoodlady (103)
666802 2008-05-07 10:02:00 thanks - yes I have spoken to them a couple of times asking various questions. I didn't get a particularly helpful person at all. Maybe I'll try calling their technical team instead. susann (12077)
666803 2008-05-07 11:31:00 Have you had a look here (www.geekzone.co.nz)? R2x1 (4628)
666804 2008-05-07 14:15:00 Not even particularly sure why you have to go All-In-One?

You could just head on over to DSE.co.nz and search for:
XH7474
XH1403

Works out cheaper than the link to that product from Ascent in the other thread, however if you do it the cheap way from DSE I believe it doesnt have Wireless. No fear though, you already have a device you can use as a Wireless Access Point :)

666805 2008-05-07 21:34:00 Thanks R2x1 - I didn't realise there was so much information over on Geekzone, I'll have a read... susann (12077)
