| 666788 | 2008-05-07 02:13:00 | Hello all I built a computer for a friend last week using a Raidmax Panther case. The lead from the front panel audio connectors (headphone and mic) is not in plug form but is composed of seven different single terminations. My problem is the way the individual wires are labelled as they don't correspond to the standard HD Audio (or AC'97 either for that matter). They are labelled as follows: Blue - L-out Black - GND Green - L-in Yellow - R-in Red - R-out White - Mic-in Red - Mic-BIAS The following is the standard pin assignment for HD Audio: 1 - PORT 1L (Analog Port 1 - left channel (microphone) ) 2 - GND (Ground) 3 PORT 1R (Analog Port 1 - right channel (microphone) ) 4 PRESENCE (Active low signal for detection etc) 5 PORT 2R (Analog Port 2 - right channel (headphone) ) 6 SENSE1-RETURN (Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1) ) 7 SENSE_SEND (Jack detection sense line etc) 8 KEY (Connector key) 9 PORT 2L (Analog Port 2 - left channel (headphone) ) 10 SENSE2_RETURN (Jack detection return for front panel (JACK2) ) If anybody can help with how I should connect the front panel to the motherboard header given the case's lead labels I would be most grateful. Cheers |

Red R-Out 6.Yellow R-in 9.Blue -L- Out 10 Green L- In Edited: OK thats interesting, just looked at the picture Pctek posted, its different to the manuals that show the same arrangement - pin 4 & 2 in a MB manual Pin 2 is mic ground. ( picture I linked from Gigabyte MB Manual) |

| 666793 | 2008-05-07 06:06:00 | What motherboard?, you already know the case leads, lets have a look at the motherboard layout! It's a Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3. But the mobo front panel pin layout is not the problem here because it's standard. The motherboard book is with the owner - but rest assured, it's the first thing I checked. And the pin assigment is standard - it's the case leads from the front panel which are not. |
